History of Liberty Dance Center, LLC:
Liberty Dance Center opened in July 2008 at its’ existing location by its’ owner, Kate Theisen-Moody. Opening a dance studio to share her love and passion for dance with young children was a dream/goal of Kate’s since she was a young dancer.
The studio opened in doors on July 28th, 2008 with an initial 40 students in a short 4 week summer season. By the following spring the studio had attracted over 100 students and held its’ first annual Spring Recital at New Berlin West High School. The studio consisted of two dance rooms housed in its’ current location with 2,400 square feet of space. In the first year of business Kate herself taught classes along with one other instructor.
Since its’ opening in 2008, the studio has expanded twice and now occupies 6,000 sq. feet and features three dance rooms and serves 400+ students. The founding principles of providing high level dance training in a family friendly environment and contributing back to the community remains a key part of the studio’s business mission.
In 2017, the Liberty Dance Center (LDC) joined three national organizations which further enhance its’ ability to deliver on that promise. The studio joined More Than Just Great Dancing, an association of studios focused on delivering high quality dance training and positively impacting their students.
LDC became a member of Youth Protection Advocacy in Dance (Y.P.A.D.), a Los Angeles based organization that strives to eliminate the exploitation of dancers. Though this organization, we now background check our teachers, become CPR certified, certify our teachers and deliver dance seminars to our students on topics facing our youth today: self image, nutrition, bullying and a host of other issues.
Finally, LDC became the 20th chapter in the U.S. of Darby’s Dancers, a not for profit that provides dance education programs for children with special needs. The Darby’s Dancers program is provided free the students families through the support of the studio and local businesses.
Our Mission…… is to prepare our students for excellence in both dance and life. As professional educators, we emphasize proper technique and terminology, while encouraging our students to find their inner passion. We aim to teach discipline, work ethic and respect in a supportive atmosphere. Our students are taught many lessons that will help them become well rounded dancers and individuals. We believe our students will develop the skills needed for excellence in dance and in life when they ”experience the freedom of movement.”
We provide a full schedule of programs ranging from our pre-school classes (ages 2-5) to 6-12 year old children or teen and adult classes. Dance styles offered include ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, hip-hop, tricks & technique and Acro/Tumbling classes.
